Chemical process engineering is concerned with the transformation of raw materials into useful products such as clothing, food, and electricity. Chemical engineers work with processes and materials, developing and designing processes to produce products. They can either improve current processes or invent new ones.

Chemical engineers come up with new ways to transform raw materials and intermediate chemicals into more usable forms. They create energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable, and profitable processes, and goods. Petrochemicals, polymers, microelectronics, medicinal equipment, paper, dyes, medications, fertilizers, and foods are all made by chemical engineers. Chemical engineering graduates may pursue degree programs and careers in research, national laboratories, medicine, industry, and law due to the scope and depth of their education.
